ER trip #1...

I say #1 because with Micah's "daredevil" personality that he is developing, I am guessing this was the first of many trips.

Yesterday was an unbelievable crazy day for us. Right after Micah had eaten breakfast, he was playing in the living room. He was climbing in and out of his blue chair which was fine because he has finally learned how to climb out instead of fall out. I was in the kitchen when I looked over and saw him standing in the chair. I started to head towards him because I knew it wasn't going to end well when he dove off of the side, upside down, into the leg of the couch. OUCH! He screamed and screamed and started acting really wobbly and quiet and then he threw up (sorry if that's too many details). I called the nurse at our Dr. office and she said we needed to take him to the ER, he probably had a concussion. Here is where it gets funny. I called David at work to tell him we were about to head to the ER and he got really quiet and said he would have to call me back. So, we got in the car and headed for Texas Children's ER. I finally called David back (when I hadn't heard from him) and a buddy from work answered his phone to tell me that David had fainted, hit his head and that the paramedics were on their way. As you can imagine, I wasn't exactly being calm and after hearing the strong one of the family was on the ground, barely conscious, it took everything in me to not completely freak out.

So, long story short (well kind of short), we were in the ER all day (literally until 5). They said that Micah did have a concussion and they did a CT scan (which he amazingly laid completely still for) and the results were normal so we got to go home. He didn't get a nap all day, though, which made for a fussy baby. Today, he is fine.

As far as David goes, once he got checked out by the paramedics, he did not have a concussion so a friend from work brought him to the hospital so he could be with us. But I can assure you that he will never live this one down, especially from his brothers. After about an hour in the ER, we had a whole entourage of family and friends there. It cracks me up how fast news like this travels. So, thanks Aunt Nat, Suzu, Aunt Audrey, Bubba, Brian, Erin, and Micaiah for coming to check on our little guy! Hopefully, this won't happen again, at least not anytime soon.

  4. That is too funny! What a great story to tell, after everyone is well of course. Crack me up. Graham is our head injury king and he is still doing great, so rest assured they are resilient. Dave fainting is by far the best part, still chuckling over that!

  7. I probably shouldn't have laughed nearly as hard as I did because I know head injuries shouldn't be a joke, but oh my gosh, the image of David fainting after hearing about Micah just cracked me up. It is actually still cracking me up.

The Micah man having to go to the ER did not make me laugh, I'm so glad the CT scan was normal!
