You can fly, you can fly, you can flyyyyy...

Last year, I did everything in my power to have Micah and Laurel coordinate costumes for Halloween. They absolutely wouldn't have it but then the week before Halloween suggested Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. The costumes had already been purchased but I put that idea in my back pocket until this year when I knew it would be a sure win. Well, of course, they weren't interested. So, I *might* have told them that if they were Peter Pan and Tinkerbell they *might* be able to get their hands on some fairy dust so they *might* be able to fly. I'm a horrible mother. BUT, I didn't make them any promises and they did end up loving the idea. David's only stipulation was that Micah was not allowed to wear tights. Done. They were the most adorable Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, if I do say so myself! 

We started the fun-filled Halloween festivities with the parade at Laurel's school (which used to be Micah's school). My little fairy has a history of dislike for performances such as these so she walked out the door with a huge scowl on her face. Once she saw me and David, though, she perked up...

For Halloween this year, we decided to keep it a little more low key and not head up to our church's First Fest. Instead, our family went over to Kev and Audrey's and ate pizza and trick-or-treated with Kev, Audrey, Wyatt, Mimi and Bubba. I am so bummed I didn't get a picture of Wyatt with the kids. Wyatt was Tick-Tock the crocodile and was the cutest little crocodile! The kids had tons of fun trick-or-treating this year and ended up with a massive amount of candy. 

Laurel's First Day of School {Preschool}

With Micah starting school so early a couple of weeks ago, I have had lots of time with my little buddy. Her first day of preschool snuck up on me! She has been talking all summer how excited she is to finally get to to to Yellow School, the same school that Micah went to for the past 2 years. She will be going Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (just the mornings on Mondays and Wednesdays). Laurel has always been my clingy one so I wasn't going to be surprised if she was the child kicking and screaming but she was so very brave and even though I could tell she was nervous, she did great! Once we got in the classroom, I tried to calm her nerves by showing her the little learning stations they had set up and she was none too please with the fact that they only  had yellow play dough and no pink play dough. After a few extra hugs and the reassurance that yellow play dough is fun too, she was totally fine and just looked at me and said "bye mommy, I love you!" I cannot believe what a big girl she is! Looking forward to a fun year of preschool?!

Last Day of Pre-K

Another school year has come and gone. I really don't know where the time goes. I feel like it was yesterday that I was forcing Micah into his plaid shorts, polo shirt and belt to head off to Pre-K for the first time. I remember thinking "he is so big" and now looking back at that picture, he looks so little. We have LOVED Micah's time at Yellow School for the past 2 years and Laurel will be there for the next 2 years. The teachers/staff are great, it is small and they really value learning through play which I love. He went 5 days a week this year (just in the morning except for Thursdays when he stayed all day). He was sad that Friday was his last day there but he is very excited about starting Kinderarten in the fall and doesn't miss an opportunity to let me know that he is a Kindergartner now.

His school always does an end of year picnic. Last year it was raining so it was inside but this year, we got to have a picnic and enjoy their new playground! Laurel and I picked up Chick-Fil-A on the way (Micah's pick) and David was able to come from work. We are so blessed that he is able to come to so much stuff like this-- the kids loved having him there!

After eating, the kids did a mini-performance where they sang some of their favorite songs from the year. It was precious. Micah loves to sing so it was really cute to see him singing and doing all of the motions!
