Micah had his first experience with a popsicle yesterday...

... I was working on a summer scrapbook page where I had a long list of summer activities that we've done. I had "eating popsicles" on there so I figured I needed to let him eat one. I should also probably go to story time at the library and go feed ducks (since those are on there too).

Here was his experience:

hmmm, what's that?

alright, I'll give it a try

are you crazy, mom? this thing is COLD!

well, maybe I'll give it another try...

mmmm, delicious!

I love this thing!

The holder is a Dripstick. Thanks, Brandy for the tip on that. It helped to minimize the mess big time.

For those of you who know me...

... this won't come as a surprise to you. Well, even if you don't know me. Anyway, I don't really like messes. Surprised? I think that God may have given me a boy so I would learn to get over everything being nice and neat all the time because boys are not nice and neat. I have been dreading letting Micah feed himself with utensils because I know what a huge mess it is. I just haven't really done it yet but know that I better start soon because I'm sure at his 18 month check up, Dr. S is going to wonder why he doesn't feed himself. With that said...

I gave it a go today...

He had a blast and it was really cute so I am going to get over the fact that it was a huge mess. You'd be surprised how much yogurt could get stuck in the rolls of his neck.

Who would have thought?

They actually exist...

... and they look delicious, too!

Birthdays and Baking, continued...

So first of all, I have gotten really bad about taking pictures. David and I celebrated our birthdays this weekend and I got a grand total of 5 good pictures. Oh well. We celebrated Saturday night with David's family. Micah had to miss out on this one and stay home with a babysitter. It was his first time with a sitter other than family and he did great. Meg was awesome. Back to dinner... we went to Flemming's Steakhouse and it was yummy! Mimi surprised us all by having a limo take us to dinner. I haven't been in a limo since our wedding so it was nostalgic. After dinner we came back to our house for desserts. I made these cupcake pops...

Which turned out so super cute and were very tasty, too. I couldn't figure out how to display them but my princess mug (pretty sure that was a 16th birthday present) was perfect!

I also made a strawberry shortcake cake for the boys but of course didn't get a picture. I did manage to get one of me and David before dinner though...

I vow to start taking more pictures! These posts aren't as much fun without the pics.

Birthdays and baking...

because they go hand in hand, right? We have entered into the time of year that I like to call "birthday season". Over the course of a week and a half, we celebrate the birthdays of my mom, me, Uncle Kev, and David. There is always much fun to be had including eating way to many sweets, opening presents, and hanging out with family.

We celebrated me and my mom's birthdays on Wednesday night at Grotto. Yummmm! She brought me a box of 6 Crave cupcakes. Yes, 6. Would you like to know how many were left by Thursday evening? 0. David ate 2 in my defense.

Notice that 1 was already gone by the time I took a picture. It was called "candy bar". Oh my I can't even describe how tasty it was.

I haven't been taking very many pictures lately and I'm not sure why. Here are some pics I snapped on Wednesday of the birthday grandma and her favorite little person.

Happy Birthday, Mom! You are the most wonderful mom a girl could ask for and a super fantastic grandma, too!

Today, it is all about the baking. Baking for the birthday get together on Saturday. I am trying out a couple of new recipes so I'll let you know how it goes. Speaking of baking, I forgot to post these pics from last weekend. My friend Emily was in town visiting. She is pregnant with little Ella and due in November. We had tons of fun registering her all day on Saturday. But for whatever reason, the only pics I got of our weekend were from baking Friday night. We were hungry and she is pregnant so she gets to eat pretty much whatever she wants so why not make cookies? They were delicious. I'll post that recipe when I post the others from the baking I am doing today.

Isn't she so cute?

I was so excited to use my cookie scoop for the first time. Look how perfectly uniform the cookies are! Of course, I forgot to take a picture of the finished product but they were delicious!

More on birthday fun soon!
