Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas out there. We had such a fun day. It is hard to believe that this is my 2nd Mother's Day as a mom, I feel like the last year flew by but I say that in almost every post, don't I? I feel so blessed to be called "mom" or more like "ma-ma". I also feel very blessed to be able to stay at home with Micah and be mom all day. I love my job and I wouldn't trade it for the world. My sweet hubby started a book for me last year with a letter written "from Micah" for Mother's Day. The idea was that every year, Micah (and then future kids) would write me a letter that I would add to my Mother's Day book. I couldn't wait to get my letter this year... it was even sweeter than last year's. He is so good to me. He also got me my favorite flowers, and they were beautiful!
We had a great day full of family time! I am very spoiled because this year, everyone came to me. David, Micah, and I spent the morning together and then David's family came over for lunch and then my family came over for dinner. Don't worry, I didn't cook all day. David's family brought lunch (yummy Amedeo's southwestern rigatoni).
Then, my sister and I cooked dinner for the boys and my mom.
We decided to do a meal of the mom's fave foods. And no, we didn't plan the color-coordinatedness. Let me be the first to tell you that this dinner wasn't anywhere close to being healthy (well Natalie's dinner entree was from a weight watchers cookbook but that was about it). However, it was one the tastiest meals I have ever been a part of preparing. I'll go ahead and share the highlights...
Shoestring onion rings
Apple dumplings
Deep dark chocolate truffle cake.... oh my
I added links to the recipes that I got online (mostly from the Pioneer Woman, she is amazing). I can honestly say that I have never had onion rings that tasty in my entire life. But I must share a secret as to why...
sorry. They were awfully tasty though!
Overall, we had such a fun and relaxing day! I hope that everyone had a happy mother's day!
Glad you had a nice mother's day... I love the letter each year idea. ( and wish my husband thought of things like that)
ReplyDeletePW onion strings are like the greatest thing I've ever tasted. I made them a few weeks ago and finished off the whole plate after dinner because I couldn't stand to see them thrown away.
You forgot the popcorn! The yummy, yummy popcorn.
ReplyDeleteThank you for giving me such a special day. Who knew I would raise such amazing cooks?
cute pic of you & your little man!
