In the phase of life that we are currently in, a vacation consists of anything that allows us to sleep in (or maybe that is just my definition). The combination of 5 days of sleeping in, being in our favorite place in the world, no kids, a trip to the spa, and lots of great food was pure bliss. David and I got to enjoy a extra long-long weekend up in Steamboat with his parents and Kevin and Audrey. We left the kids at home with Suzu and Teddy (BIG THANKS to them for that) so it was just the 6 of us. We had such a great time just relaxing, reading, hiking, eating, and then some. In the picture above, we had just finished eating at my all time favorite restaurant, Cafe Diva.
On Saturday, we went up to Fish Creek Falls. I have been there more times than I can count but I have never seen it like this. Apparently, while we are dealing with a drought down here, they are dealing with the opposite. Their rivers are higher than they've been in something like 50 years. It was beautiful!
Afterwards, David and I had a little hiking date. I just love this guy and loved getting so much quality time with him over the course of the weekend...
And then headed to the Steamboat Rodeo (which was hilarious and so much fun)...
... and then finished the night with the best fireworks show I have ever seen.
I wouldn't mind spending every 4th of July in Steamboat! Big thanks to Suzu and Teddy (and Nat and Dan who spent the weekend in College Station and helped a ton) for keeping the kiddos and to Mimi and Bubba for taking us on this trip! We had so much fun and had lots of much needed rest time.
