David's dad hit the big 6-0 while in Steamboat with friends back in February. We couldn't wait to get together to celebrate with the whole family! We all wanted to plan something that would be extra special for him and that would be a surprise and we had a blast doing it. We headed out to Kingwood this past Saturday evening so that we could be together for the day on Sunday. We started the morning by making Bubba his favorite breakfast, french toast! Then, the kids swam in the hot tub while everyone else enjoyed the beautiful weather.
We convinced Micah to jump in the cold pool... he did NOT think that was funny. I win mom of the year award for that one.
David and I had shirts made for the extravaganza with all of our favorite Bubba quotes. We all put them on but we forgot to get a group picture but we got one of Mimi and Bubba in theirs!
The Saxe girls love an excuse to get all dressed up so we did just that and then the big surprise (for Sandy) was a limo picking us up and taking us to dinner at Brennan's. Brennan's is one of Sandy's favorite restaurants and the extra special treat was that we got to sit at the table in the kitchen. It was SO MUCH FUN! We were allowed to walk around the kitchen and talk to the chefs and had a 6 course off the menu dinner. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I tried lots of food I've never had before and probably wouldn't have ordinarily tried and it was all delicious!
Happy Birthday Bubba! We love you and hope you felt extra special for your 60th birthday!
What a fun evening!! You are so lucky to have a family that loves being together. My brothers are fuddy duds and hate doing things like this and especially hate taking pictures!! What a fun experience to sit in the kitchen with the chefs!!
ReplyDeleteOh, yum! The Pearce/Ozinga clan loves Brennan's too! We need to enjoy the table in the kitchen sometime though. That sounds extra fun.
