Dallas

Micah and I had quite the fun filled weekend. I have had a trip planned for a while now to go to Dallas to visit friends from college and friends from while we lived there. I had such a fun weekend visiting with everyone and showing off my big guy. Everyone there had met him, but it was when he was a newborn and he has definitely grown! I wasn't sure how he would handle the 4 hour drive, but as usual, he was perfect. We switched him to his big boy car seat the day before because he is SO BIG and because we wanted to make sure he would be comfortable for the long drive. This is how he felt about trying out the new car seat in the house:

Needless to say, it was a winner. We should've switched him a while ago. Even though he still fit in the weight standards, the infant seat was way to small.

Once in Dallas, our first stop was seeing one of Malinn's (David's mom) closest friends. She loved getting to see Micah again. After lunch with her, we headed over to stay with our friends Rachel and baby Addison (Micah's future girlfriend). While stay with them, we got to have fun girl time with a few of my other good girl friends from college, Haley, Lizzie, and Lauren. We were just in time to celebrate Lizzie's birthday! This girl time, of course, included shopping and pedicures. Here is a picture of when Micah and Addison met for the first time (last week):

Our next stop was my friend from growing up, Laura and her family's house. She has always been like a sister to me and I even lived with her when I did my student teaching in Dallas. She has 2 little boys that loved playing with Micah so this was a blast. She and I got a lot of scrapbooking time in. She is the scrapbooking genius who has taught me everything in know in that area. She also fed Micah animal crackers for the first time... so David can blame that addiction on her. The greatest moment from my time at her house was when Paul, her hubby, gave Micah and her 2 boys a bath all at the same time. It was hilarious.

Our last stop was on our way out of town and it was my friend Emily's house. She was my life saver in my one year of teaching in Dallas. Without her next door to me, I'm pretty sure I would've quit in December. She and I have stayed close and I couldn't go to Dallas without seeing her so Micah and I had a short visit with her on the way out of town.

A note about traveling with a baby... yes I have done this before and even on an airplane but something about this weekend seemed difficult. There is just so much stuff to bring. Bottles, formula, food, diapers, pack n' play, clothes, bibs, etc. I won't name names but a few of my friends made fun and said it is because I am quite "particular" about the way I do things. I will admit, I didn't have to bring a gallon of distilled water for Micah's bottles... and I guess bringing my own soap to clean his bottles is a bit overboard. Fine.

So, Dallas friends, I love you all and loved getting to see you!

I wish I had more pictures of the weekend but my camera decided it didn't want to work once I got there. I will add them as my friends send them to me. The only bummer of the weekend is that I got sick at some point and now I am really sick. I hope it isn't the flu and I really hope that Micah doesn't get it. He hasn't gotten sick yet so he definitely has his daddy's immune system.

About the blog going private, thanks so much for all the emails! I have been shocked to see how many people read our blog... you guys should comment every once in a while! Please email me if you haven't already if you would like to keep reading. I will keep compiling our list. I am in no rush to make it private so it will probably be in a month or so.

So I was thinking...David has his own profile on blogger...I think he should write a post! You know, give us the "dad" perspective...

  4. I'm little hurt that you didn't come see us when you were up here in Dallas. I see where I rank! Just kidding - sort of.
