This week, Micah had swim lessons with Miss Glendy of Glendy's Waterbabies. She is the same person who taught David when he was Micah's age! It is more survival training in case he were to ever fall in a pool rather than actual swim lessons. She is magical because I couldn't have ever imagined he'd be able to do what he could do today. She is also really sweet. David still thinks that we are so mean for putting him through this but I think that he is learning such a great lesson! We went every day this week for 30 minutes and he really did get almost everything she taught him. I will still have to work with him some over the summer to make sure it sticks but I am very impressed. I took a ton of video with our video camera but I tried to keep it to a few clips for this video of the whole week. If you have a little one that you want to be trained like this I highly recommend Miss Glendy. You can find her on facebook.
As you can see on the video, he really liked to talk back to Miss Glendy. We just had no clue what he said. I imagine it wasn't very nice. I will also warn you that it is a little intense at times...
That is INCREDIBLE! I want to get Lily in lessons like that! She goes under and FLIPS OUT!
ReplyDeleteThat is my favorite video!
ReplyDeleteAlly!!!! This is AMAZING!! Micah is soooo smart! He is going to be such a good little swimmer! I love and miss y'all!!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! This is what JP and his partners are doing in Austin, a learn-to-swim school using the SmartFish method (which is exactly what Micah's teacher was using). It is just so amazing to watch and see it's possible for such little kids!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else--this is amazing!! He was doing so good!! Luke needs lessons like this!! I need to find someone around here to teach him this stuff. We did swim lessons before his first birthday and he didn't learn anything as useful as this.
ReplyDeletethat's the same lady who did kendall's swim lesson too! i like the song on the video-it's on my myspace pg right now too! cute scrapbook pg as always!
ReplyDeleteAlly,
ReplyDeleteThat is the most amazing thing I have ever seen!!!!! Micah is so brave! I wish I knew what he was trying to say to her. I think he is saying 'Not yet, I'm not ready...Don't do it yet!' Noah watched it, too. He can't believe it! I wish I had known about her for my boys.

ReplyDeleteIf I may echo, that is really awesome.
ReplyDeleteHey Ally! That was so amazing! I've never knew children so young could do that! What a smartie! I haven't been reading your blog because it wouldn't let me when you went private. I just noticed that you are back! I guess I need to catch up!

ReplyDelete...I just wanted to tell you I am so THANKFUL that you posted about the swim lessons. My sister's 3 yr old son is not afraid of anything and has jumped in the pool multiple times without any adult or floaties...this week a 3 yr old drowned in their neighborhood pool so she is going to send Jackson to Glenda's! Thank you Thank you-- what a blessing blogging is!
Katherine,
ReplyDeleteYour sister must live in my neighborhood, such a tragic story. Glendy is awesome, she won't be disappointed!
