One of the things that the pediatrician said yesterday was
that it is time for Micah to lose the paci. She said that it is much better now
than after Laurel comes and I agree. I am a little worried about this
transition because he has become quite dependent on it but I think he’ll do
fine. He is about to go through a lot of transitions anyways so it is good for
him to start getting used to it (with Laurel coming, potty training, and moving
to the big boy bed all happening in the coming months). She suggested that we cut
slits in the pacis and that then he wouldn’t like them. So, yesterday I cut
slits in all but 1 and of course caved and gave him that one at bedtime. This
morning, though, when he went back for his paci after he’d been awake for a
while, he found one with a slit in it. He hated it. He took it right out of his
mouth and looked at me and said “paci broken” so I told him we should go throw
it in the trash. He nodded and said “paci trash”. We put the paci in the trash
and he said “bye bye paci”. He then proceeded to do this with the rest of his
pacis! He then said “all gone paci”.
So, so far this is going well… we’ll see how it goes around nap time. :)
Way to go Micah!!!! And way to go Mommy!
