Merry Christmas! (just a few weeks late) I really should've split this up into multiple posts but I decided that once it was too late so get ready for lots and lots of pictures!
We headed out to Kingwood on Christmas Eve-Eve and stayed until the day after Christmas. Then, we headed to College Station for a couple of days, came home for a couple of days and then turned around and went to Steamboat! It was a whirlwind but so much fun! It was so great to spend so much time with family! I'll let the pictures tell all about our holidays...
Christmas Eve
Micah LOVED swimming in heated pools both at Mimi and Bubba's and in Steamboat. He didn't want to get out of the pool on Christmas Eve! Both of the kids were so excited (for once) to go to sleep on Christmas Eve because they couldn't wait to see what Santa brought them. Micah insisted that we leave Santa donuts along with his milk and cookies.
Christmas morning
We started a new tradition this year that the first gift the kids open on Christmas day is Jesus because HE is the reason we celebrate Christmas! They opened up their Jesus and added him to the advent calendar before running downstairs to see what Santa brought them. I think it goes without saying that the kids were a wee bit spoiled this year. Micah loves his new Jeep (from Santa but really Mimi and Bubba) and Laurel loves cruising around in it with him. It was such a fun Christmas because every year Micah understands more and more about Santa and the whole season of Christmas and it really seemed like Laurel got it this year too! She is very into pretend play right now so she got lots of baby accessories, a new baby, kitchen accessories and dress up clothes. Having a girl is so fun!
Day after Christmas
The day after Christmas we headed up to College Station to spend some time with my family. I have been wanting to get Laurel a kitchen for a long time, long before she was even capable of playing with it, and she finally got one this year from my parents. She LOVES it and loves to wear her apron and cook. She always tells me she is making cookies which is precious because there is certainly nothing I'd rather make than cookies. Micah is very into super heroes right now and he likes to refer to himself as different super heroes. His super hero of choice is Dash right now and when he opened Dash from my parents, he said "look it's me!" and then he opened Mr. Incredible and exclaimed "it's my daddy!" Adorable.
We got to spend the next day with a lot of extended family from my mom's side that we haven't seen in years! Micah had a little buddy to play with that is his age and Sadie was such a trooper being passed around. Laurel was her usual clingy self and just wanted Mommy around so many people (some familiar and some not so familiar). We even got to see our cousins that live out in LA that we haven't seen in a while (one of which is famous, click here to see his latest work). It was so great to see everyone!
After everyone left, we tried to get a family picture. I don't know why we didn't think to do this when there were plenty of hands to take it but we used my sister's tripod instead. We haven't taken a family picture since Nat's wedding- which obviously didn't include Laurel or Sadie.
WHEW! Between Christmas week and then Steamboat right after, it is no wonder why I am still feeling exhausted after Christmas "vacation"!
We relaxed a lot, laughed a lot, slept a lot (thanks grandparents!), ate a LOT, read a lot and played a lot! I wouldn't have it any other way!
