We have been proud members of the Houston Zoo for the last few years and definitely get tons of use out of our membership. We usually stay away during the summer months, though. Aside from the unbearable Houston heat, the crowds during the summer are usually pretty bad. We decided to go last week for our field trip because they have a new splash pad that I wanted to let the kids try out. We met up with our friends Allison & Madeleine and Cindy & Jake and the zoo felt so empty. Although it was indeed hot, it was so nice that there weren't really that many people there!
Micah and Laurel's favorite part it still the "Natural Encounters" section, Micah loves seeing the sting rays and bats and Laurel loves the big fish tank at the end with "nemo" fish
We usually don't spend too much time in the monkeys area but this time, they were both so interested! Gotta love the photo opp at the end
Within seconds of walking onto the splash pad, a bucket dumped over on Laurel's head and she was done. She was already being pretty fussy and clingy and this pushed her over the edge. Micah played for a bit but we didn't stay over there near as long as I thought we would.
On our way out, Micah wanted to climb onto the dinosaur for a picture... as if Laurel hadn't already reached her breaking point, Micah telling her to come climb on the "REAL" dinosaur did not over over well which is why she is not pictured here.
We are having so much fun with our Field Trip Wednesdays and we can't wait for our field trip this week to Kingwood!

Next stage....Dinosaur!
