Mamo

A few weeks ago, went went and visited my sweet Mamo. Mamo is my dad's mom and is one of my favorite people in the whole world. I was very close to her growing up and so many of my favorite memories were made with her. A few years ago, Mamo was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and it has been devastating to watch the disease progress. When we visit her, she usually doesn't know us and the kids are very confusing to her because they came along after her illness. She loves kids and always has, though so she loves to play with them and love on them, she just asked every few minutes who they are and who we are. Mamo is one of 12 kids and her baby sister Idamae was in town-- getting to see her was an extra special treat. Though Mamo seemed confused for most of our visit, before we left she looked at me and said "OH! You are MY Ally!" It is such a sweet moment when something clicks for her, even if it is only for a second. I treasure the moments I get to spend with my Mamo and will always treasure these pictures of her with the kids.
