Shhhh!

You know I love to plan a party, but I definitely think I had the most fun planning I've ever had planning this one! It has been so fun yet so hard to keep this a surprise and I actually pulled it off. He claimed he had no idea until I came out "dressed up" for dinner at Nanna's with my hair curled. He still says he didn't really suspect that it was coming though and definitely didn't suspect something so big. It was so special to see so many people that love him all come together for the same reason- to celebrate him! I am so blessed that he is my hubby and loved every second of this shin dig celebrating 30 years of his life! I can't wait to see what the next 30 hold for us!

Here are the party details:

All printed invites and decorations were designed by yours truly, we did a fiesta theme because his favorite food is Mexican. We had the party at David's grandma's building in the party room. Everyone munched on chips, queso and salsa and worked on their "how well do you know David?" quizzes until we got there for the big surprise! (quiz at the bottom of this post if you want to take it)

Those cookies were my pride and joy of the week... it took me a couple of days to finish them (and that was with help from my friend Allison) so I had to hide them each night in the dresser in our spare bedroom. I had all of these decorations hidden all over the house and he never noticed a thing! His favorite candy is lemonheads so the favors were little lemonhead boxes with a wrapper I made and then tied with bakers twine.

First reaction to the 45 people hiding behind the door! The kids response was not so excited and a bit terrified... I really wish I could've told them what was coming so they would've been prepared but they would've blown the surprise

It was so fun to see how many people from so many different parts of David life came! I invited close to 55 and 45 came! We had family, friends from all seasons of his life and coworkers that all came.

Sweet Justin is making fun of David's squinty eye grin

We have a sweet family friend that has been babysitting for us and the kids absolutely adore her. She came to the party and hung out for a bit and then took the kids home and put them to bed. It was so nice to have them there and then so nice to have some kid-free time too!

Love my hubby!

The best part of the party was when everyone got to share favorite memories of him

Our friend, Mark, has a gift of rapping. I am serious. He wrote David a birthday rap that had everyone rolling in the floor. Luckily we got a video of it:

How well do you know David? Take the quiz!

I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who helped to make this party possible. With it being a surprise, there was only so much that I could do ahead of time and then everything else was taken care of by our amazing family. So BIG THANKS to everyone for all of your help (I am not going to name names because I am certain I would leave someone off but you know who you are)!
